Modern, Modern, Modern!

I just got back from a week of teaching at Quilters Affair in Sisters, OR. In case you don't know, the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Festival is the largest outdoor quilt show in the world; the whole town is hung with beautiful quilts from all over the world.  It's a one-day exhibit at the end of the week of classes.

The sun was so bright that I had trouble getting pictures that were not backlit, but I did shoot a couple that came out ok. Love this one!

The location is heavenly and the teachers are regional, national, and international.  Here I am with Rosalie Dace, who lives in South Africa and spends half the year in the U.S. teaching. Were we having fun?  You bet!

I had the pleasure of spending time with Elizabeth Hartman, Julie Herman, and Amy Walsh -- all of whom are young, talented, and charming.  Alissa Haight Carlton and I didn't cross paths, but she was also there and spearheaded an outdoor exhibit of 35 quilts from QuiltCon  I didn't get pictures of all of them but shot enough of my favorites to give you a taste.  Here they are.

This is wool with beautiful, large stitches.  Notice the spark of turquoise on the left. Makes it sing!

See you next Thursday night!
hugs,
Rayna

  1. Just a reminder, as stated in the last post and emails, the next meeting is July 25th. I want to avoid any confusion!
